OAKLEY HORSEBOXES MOURN THE DEATH OF BARRY OAKLEY

Barry Oakley died on Sunday 24th January 2010, aged 70, after bravely fighting illness over the past six years.

Barry joined his brother Brian, who founded Oakleys, after he had served an apprenticeship with British Aerospace (Formerly the "De Havilland Aircraft Company") as an airframe and aircraft engineer.

Over a period of 50 years, supported by a highly skilled and dedicated staff, he helped build Oakley Horseboxes in to today's multi-million pound turnover company renowned throughout the whole equestrian world. Some of the standard features you see in many manufacturers horseboxes today are the result of Barry, Brian and the teams pioneering innovation.

A friendly affable man, Barry had a strong but kind personality and was held in great esteem by the Oakley staff. His close relationship with customers greatly helped to ensure that the Oakley policy to build boxes to individual customer requirements was always carefully adhered to.

He married twice and is survived by his wife Sue, children Sandra, Stephen, Francis, Andrew and 5 Grandchildren.
